The revolutionary Mineral Insulation with ECOSE® Technology from the Knauf Insulation company won first place in the Innovation of the Year 2009 award

On Friday 4th December the Knauf Insulation company, a manufacturer of thermal, acoustic and fireproof insulation materials, received the Innovation of the Year 2009 award for its revolutionary new product, Mineral Insulation with ECOSE® Technology.

In 2009 the Association of Innovative Entrepreneurship of the Czech Republic announced the annual award for the Innovation of the Year in cooperation with the Committee on the National Economy, Agriculture and Transport, of the Senate of the Czech Republic. It is possible to enter the competition with a new or significantly improved product (a manufactured product, technological process or service), which must, at the time of application, be demonstrably successful in use. Each innovation is evaluated from several aspects: the technical standard of the product, the originality of the solution, its market position, its effectiveness, and its impact on the environment.

Awards received by the Knauf Insulation company for its revolutionary new product, Natural Mineral Insulation with ECOSE® Technology, which uses a binder made from renewable materials free from formaldehyde, phenols and acrylates, unlike mineral insulation with a binder based on petroleum. Use of insulation helps to improve the internal environment of buildings, for example thermal insulation of sloping roofs, internal partitions and external walls. Due to lower energy demand during manufacture, this technology is more environmentally friendly. ECOSE® Technology has been developed on the basis of five years of intensive research and development by Knauf Insulation. Currently this technology is protected by several worldwide patents.

Knauf Insulation launched its product onto the market in July 2009, when the entire operation of the plant in Krupka was adapted for its production. The product very quickly took the lead on the market, and demand from domestic and foreign markets increased. In early November mineral insulation with ECOSE® Technology won the Product of the Year award at the international conference Global Insulation 2009 in Prague, and from Rotterdam in the Netherlands won the Dubo Award 2009. The winning of further awards confirms Knauf Insulation in its role as supplier of the highest quality products on the insulation materials market.
